Update on the girls basketball coaching situation at Cullman HS:

Cold Springs' Tammy West is getting an offer to be the coach:

GDW Update:
Gameday Weekly is reporting Cullman High School has presented an offer to Cold Springs' Tammy West to become the school's new girls basketball coach.
The process is expected to be done by next week.
West has a commitment this week as she is the administrative coach for Team Alabama in their all star game vs. Mississippi Saturday at the University of South Alabama.
West is on the staff with Spring Garden's Ricky Austin the head coach and Emily Flanigan of Sparkman the assistant.
On this staff is well known players such as Ava McSwain of Good Hope, Ace Austin of Spring Garden, Saniya Jackson of Park Crossing, Maddie Smith of Trinity Presbyterian and Brett Douglas of Hazel Green.
Cullman High School administration reportedly asked Jessica McBrayer to step down after coaching the team for two years.
Cullman just finished the season reaching the Sweet 16 of the playoffs for the first time since 2012. They were defeated in the 6A regional semifinals by Hartselle at Wallace State February 13.
West has coached at Cold Springs from 1992 through 2025 with 754 career victories, ranking her 7th all time in the history of AHSAA girls basketball.
Her 2024/25 season at Cold Springs produced 19 wins out of 28 games and 2nd place in the 2A Northwest Regional to Decatur Heritage.
West was a 2022 inductee into the Cullman County Sports Hall of Fame, joining her father, Danny Welborn, who received the honor in 2008.
