GDW Analysis:
For programs in the Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA), a series of schools will be under new direction when the 2024/25 athletic year begins in late August.
Gameday Weekly has been working thoroughly on who will be taking over with basketball stepping into center stage.
Heading into the final week of May, GDW is aware 12 schools will be with a new leader in basketball. Six will be in the girls segment and five to be handling the varsity.
As of currently, one change in local girls basketball with Emily Willoughby now leading the Vinemont Lady Eagles.
Others to have someone new in commanding their program are Natasha Smallwood at Albertville, Kelly Robinson at Guntersville, Shane Childress at Priceville, Terance Maze at Arab and most recent, Jared Faile at Susan Moore.
GDW will see new varsity coaches next season with Ben Mastin going to Decatur, Kory Walker at Athens, Bobby Meyer at West Morgan, Chris Graves at Albertville and Nathan Sanders at Corner.
Danville and Cordova still have vacancies while new girls coaches are being sought at Clements, Sparkman, Bob Jones and Mortimer Jordan.
For football, Kevin McCravy replaces the retired Don Farley at West Point while Levi Estes comes to Hanceville, succeeding Ryan Brewer.
Holly Pond is currently looking for a new coach after Coleman Mason recently stepped down and accepted a spot on the staff at Oneonta.
Other schools nearby are in the process of changing leadership.

Volleyball will feature three new coaches locally as Meagan Cagle is now at West Point, Amy Hudson at Cullman and Bobby Daniels at Vinemont.
Vacancies currently include Curry, Clements and Tarrant.
