GDW Analysis:
VINEMONT: Vinemont Eagles shook off a heartbreaking Thursday night loss to Good Hope by coming back Friday at Mike Cupp Field to run rule the Cold Springs Eagles 12 to 2.
The Eagles' 6 game winning streak was stopped in an 8 to 7 loss to Good Hope when the Raiders rallied, scoring twice in the last of the 7th to move to 6 & 2 on the season.
Back home on Friday, the Eagles sent a pair of runs home in the 1st and 2nd for a 4 to 0 lead.
Kayden Henderson scored twice for the Eagles, once in both innings. He led off the 1st getting hit by a pitch, stealing second and coming in a ground out by Hayden Robinson.
The Eagles made it 4 to 0 in the 2nd on an RBI triple by Henderson and a run scoring double off the bat of Jake Hale.
Cold Springs put together a brief rally in the 3rd to narrow the margin to 4 to 2.
Mason Gable would single and later score on a
base hit by Elijah Cole. Cole scored on a one out single by Cooper Johnson.
Cold Springs was never able to keep the momentum going as Ryne Dalton would get into a groove of retiring 8 consecutive batters from the 3rd to the 5th.
Robinson singled home a Vinemont in the 4th and an RBI ground out by Rylan McRae plus Robinson scoring on a throwing error after a steal of 3rd to make it 7 to 2.
The Vinemont 6th would close it out as the Eagles took advantage of two Cold Springs errors and two balks charged against the pitcher.
Rush Sandlin and Josh Rhodes scampered home with the final pair of runs to complete a 5 run 6th inning and end the game via run rule at 6:27 p.m.
The county rival was played in 1 hour, 53 minutes under windy conditions with wind speed at least 15 miles an hour throughout the game.
Henderson scored three times from his leadoff position. He provided a pair of triples, an RBI and two stolen bases.
Hale had two scores, scored three times in batting 2nd in the lineup.
Dalton worked five innings, giving up two runs on four hits and getting the last 8 Cold Springs hitters he faced.
Banks Borwick pitched the 6th. He kept Cold Springs off the scoreboard with a strikeout, a walk in facing batters.
Coach Hunter Cornelius' Eagles now have 11 wins out of 14 decisions.
The Eagles have cancelled an assignment Saturday with Brewer so they can get a couple of days of rest before a huge 3A Area 12 series with JB Pennington.
Game 1 will be Monday at Cupp Field at 4:30 p.m.
