Wallace State New Years' Classic report:
Game 1: Belgreen 55, Danville 51 (G):
Belgreen came out with a victory as the Danville Lady Hawks missed 14 FTs in the 4th.
Makenna Fisher came off the bench to score 15 for Belgreen, now 13 & 2. Randi Terry added 14.
Danville fell to 12 & 3.
Adily Alberti had a game high 17 for Danville.
Game 2: West Point 78, Clements (G):
West Point ended the first with 8 consecutive points and go up on Clements 25 to 13.
Leading 36 to 22 at the half, the Lady Warriors had 22 in the 3rd with Jaelyn Faulkner netting 13 in the process.
The Lady Warriors led 58 to 38 after the stanza and got 20 in the 4th to put the game well out of reach.
She claimed 27 in the contest with John Welborn's Lady Warriors 13 & 4 for the season.
Her sister Camryn scored 18 and Laklin Shadix delivered 19.
Katie Beth Yovino tallied 5 points in good play off the bench. Caitlee Simmons tossed in 2, Patton Fell 3 and Kenadi Pagan had 2.
Clements was led by freshman Keymoni Hollaway with 18, Asiah Malone and future Wallace State player Kaley McEwen scored 11.
Game 3: West Point 75, Clements 49:
Clements, with just 3 wins coming in against 14 losses, challenged West Point with good three point shooting in the first half.
The Colts made seven by halftime.
West Point had a 24 to 13 scoring streak in the 2nd and went from 20 to 16 to leading at the half 44 to 29.
West Point was superior for the game with Maddox Chapman scoring 21, Jaxon Shelton 19 and getting 13 by shooting guard Cade Welborn.
Jay Lamar had only 7 for the Warriors.
Mason Voce's squad has won their last 5 and go into a Friday game at Cordova 17 & 3 for the season.
Game 4: Good Hope 83, Dora 22 (G):
A mismatch was on display in a battle where these two have faced each other several times in previous seasons.
Good Hope blew Dora off the Coliseum floor by a 24 to 2 first period lead with Ava McSwain scoring 14 for the No. 1 team in 4A.
It was 47 to 10 at the half and 71 to 16 for Justin Aby's Lady Raiders going to the 4th.
Sophie Konrad broke out with a great outing to support McSwain's 25 points.
Konrad led the team with 27 as Good Hope is now 14 & 4. She had 6 Fgs and 4 treys in the 2nd half.
Jolee McHan provided 14, Lexi Marshall 6, Molly Johnson 3, Ella Gossett 2 and Lucie Adams 2.
Dora's well known scorer, Bella Reese tallied only 6 against the tough Good Hope defense.
Dora fell to 11 & 7.
Game 5: Good Hope 81, Dora 57:
Good Hope's scoring Thursday was like this in meeting Dora for the 2nd time this season.
The Raiders accounted for 20, 22, 20 and 17 in a high scoring affair to claim their 15th win out of 18 games.
Drew Adams' Raiders were up 20 to 14 after the first then managed to move the lead to double figures, 42 to 28 at the half.
A 20 t0 10 edge in scoring from the 3rd had the Raiders with 64 points and a comfortable lead vs. the Bulldogs.
Dora won the final period 19 to 17, but was too far behind to make a serious charge at the Raiders.
Five would get into double digit scoring on this day.
Tyler Cone caught fire scoring 21, followed by a great 13 point outing from sophomore guard Kye McSwain. Tucker Malin also netted 13, Gavin Pace had 11 and Tucker Screws 10. Jacob Haynes finished with 5.
Now the Raiders look to keep the momentum going Friday when Arab visits the Good Hope campus. The game will be around 7:30 p.m. and will be live on WKUL FM (92.1)
Game 6: Cullman 78, Homewood 73:
Cullman had a good time at the line in the 4th, making 13 of 16 to escape a hard fought bid for an upset victory by Homewood.
Jake Dorough was 5 of 6 for coach Stu Stuedeman. Freshman center Brooks Loftin made three of four, Sam Dorough scored twice from the stripe as did Preston Gay.
Jake Dorough netted 24 to give the 'Cats 18 wins in 21 games.
Sam Dorough provided 15, Evan Wilson and Gay scored 13 and Loftin had 10.
Latham Binkley was superb for Homewood, now coached by former Fairview Aggie player Elijah Garrison. Binkley produced 29 points, the most by one player in the 2025 Classic.
Homewood dropped to 11 & 8 for the season.
A 27 to 19 Cullman second period was valuable for the 'Cats to be ahead for the rest of the game.
Cullman was up 37 to 33 at the half and 57 to 53 heading to the 4th.
Cullman will now be in the John Tekulve Classic Friday at Cold Springs.
The Bearcats meet Marion County at 4:30 p.m.
The game will be live on 98.3, Praise FM.
Game 7: Vestavia 67, Guntersville 37:
Vestavia went from a 17 to 11 lead after the first to 38 to 18 at halftime on a 21 to 7 run in the 2nd.
Adam Barksdale led the Rebels with 18, John Towry had 12 and Emory Bear scored 11.
Vestavia is 13 & 4 on the season.
