The two teams that are part of AHSAA 1A, Area 14 served notice last week.
St. Bernard lost at Cullman Christian 46 to 38 last Monday. The Lady Saints then defeated area foes Meek 35 to 27 and a 34 upset of area leader Addison from the Fazi Richard Athletic Center.
It kept the Lady Saints in contention to possibly win the regular season area title if they prevail at Addison on Monday. They are 3 & 2 in the area and have 6 wins in 10 games.
Cullman Christian followed the comeback win against St. Bernard in beating Brindlee Mountain the following night at home.
Last Thursday, the Lady Lions had a good outing at Meek in posting a 56 to 48 triumph.
Heith Yearwood's Lady Lions have 9 wins in their first official year as a member of the AHSAA. They split the regular season area series with St. Bernard and Meek.
Davis, a freshman guard for St. Bernard, scored a game high 30 vs. Cullman Christian, netted 11 in their win over Meek and responded with 9 of her 22 points in a comeback final period to upset Addison.
Davis netted 63 points for the week, an average of 21.0.
Varsity:
Holly Pond Broncos
Cooper Williams of Cullman Christian
Holly Pond completed the 3A, Area 11 schedule last week with two wins vs. Vinemont and Hanceville.
The Broncos toppled Vinemont at home 70 to 57 last Tuesday and on the 17th, came from behind at Hanceville by a final of 45 to 33.
Tim Willoughby's Broncos have and 11 & 10 and are 4 & 4 in the area. They will go into the area playoffs 3rd behind Locust Fork and JB Pennington.
Williams is a left handed shooting guard for Cullman Christian.
His three point stroke against St. Bernard was outstanding as well as the Lions in scoring long range shots vs. two point FGs.
Williams would land 8 shots from three point territory, 5 in the 1st half.
His 26 points stood out for the Lions to earn a 43 to 40 victory and sweep the series from their city rival.
Cullman Christian made 13 treys in the game and only 1 FG. The Lions scored twice from the line, both by Williams.
