GDW Analysis:
WEST POINT: Point guard Kade Vincent had just 7 points for the Warriors Friday evening in the Christmas Classic semifinal vs. Corner.
But a three point play with 3:20 remaining sent the Warriors on top to stay and earn a 67 to 60 victory.
That sends the Warriors to the championship Saturday vs. Decatur Heritage at approximately 2:30 p.m. from Jim Boyd Gymnasium.
Decatur Heritage defeated Danville 58 to 45 in their semifinal prior to the West Point/Corner encounter.
This game was billed as a matchup of two good teams and pair of hot scoring guards.
Jay Lamar for West Point had scored 57 points in 2 previous home games for Mason Voce's Warriors.
Talan Laird of Corner got the Yellow Jackets to the semifinals with 31 in a 76 to 60 victory Thursday against Holly Pond.
Both would step it up in their own perspective.
Lamar was more superior in the 2nd half, scoring 20 of his 35 points and was 10 of 10 at the line.
Laird had 8 in the 2nd half, 2 in the 4th and pair of miscues that were costly late for his team in the chance of winning.
West Point led 20 to 16 when the 1st ended. Corner had an 18 to 8 run in the 2nd with Laird scoring 9 and the Jackets leading at the half, 34 to 28.
Corner led 51 to 48 to head into the 4th and got a 56 to 50 lead on a couple of FGs, one from 3 point land.
Then the Warriors would finish the game with a 17 to 4 surge. Lamar was 5 of 5 at the line and FTs by Cade Welborn and Vincent allowed the team to close out the 2nd half from the stripe 14 of 14.
Jaxon Shelton delivered 11 for the 15 & 3 Warriors, Vincent scored 7, Chapman had 11, Welborn 3 and Brier Taylor 3.
