GDW Analysis:
WEST POINT: Clutch play in the final period Friday has the Holly Pond Broncos a win and a loss in the West Point Christmas Classic.
Holly Pond edged East Lawrence 53 to 52 in the consolation bracket at Jim Boyd Gymnasium.
The game was decided in the final minute when East Lawrence went ahead 52 to 51 on a steal and a point play by guard Cayne McClure.
Holly Pond's ball handling guard, Sawyer Olinger, answered for the Broncos.
Olinger hit a short range jumper with 0:28 to go and the Broncos were back on top at 53 to 52.
Holly Pond played good defense in the closing seconds and was able to run time off the clock in a well played game between the two teams.
Holly Pond led 12 to 11 after the first, 25 to 22 at the half and 36 to 34 following play in the 3rd.
Center Cade Allbright produced 19 for Tim Willoughby's Broncos, now 9 & 9 on the season.
Olinger collected 13 with 2 FGs in the final period. Asher Thrift netted 12.
East Lawrence slipped to 7 & 7. The Eagles had 15 from McClure and Brylan White.
Holly Pond will play Springville Saturday at 11:30 a.m. in the consolation bracket, 5th place game.
East Lawrence gets Oneonta at 10:00 a.m. for 7th place in the tournament.
