Analysis from Friday at the county tourney:
HANCEVILLE: Holly Pond played team basketball better than West Point Friday night.
The Broncos earned a 53 to 50 upset of the No. 1 seed in the semifinal round from Wallace State's Tom Drake Coliseum.
A 4 seed with 2 wins in 6 county games, the Broncos continued their sound run this week in being superior vs. the Warriors.
The Broncos outscored the Warriors 14 to 12 in FGs, hit 9 treys to 3, had a 41 to 31 advantage in rebounding. Their assist edge was 15 to 4.
West Point won the FT contest, but missed 10 attempts out of 27 visits to the stripe.
The Broncos broke a 10 to 10 tie in the first to lead at the half, 24 to 19.
Holly Pond slowed down the pace with West Point netting 30 points through three periods.
A 10 point lead took place for Tim Willoughby's Broncos in the 4th.
However, Mason Voce's Warriors got back in the game as a shot by Maddox Chapman with 0:26 to play had the score at 52 to 50 Holly Pond.
Carson Ryan made one of two from the line at 0:14 and a 53 to 50 Bronco lead.
The Warriors last chance to tie ended on a long range three not connecting.
Holly Pond is 13 & 12 with its 4th consecutive victory. West Point fell to 17 & 6 in losing a 2nd straight close game.
Cade Allbright had 16 points and 17 rebounds to anchor the Bronco upset. He was the GDW player of the game.
PG Sawyer Olinger 15 points, 7 assists and 8 rebounds, Ryan with 11 points and 5 rebounds, Asher Thrift 2 treys and 8 points, Fox Westall with 3.
Chapman accounted for 20 for the Warriors, Jay Lamar was held to 11, hitting one trey the entire night. Jaxson Shelton got 6, Cade Welborn and Nolan Franklin 4 and Kade Vincent 2.
Too many weapons by Good Hope vs. Fairview:
Now with 4 consecutive victories, the Good Hope Raiders are back in how they love playing the game.
The Raiders are known as an attack squad. They love a fast pace and they showed it to Fairview Friday in the 2nd semifinal by a final of 78 to 52.
Good Hope jumped out quickly and led the Aggies 25 to 10 following the first.
Fairview managed an 18 to 14 tally in the 2nd and stayed close, down 39 to 28 at the half.
Another rip roaring attack on the basket was seen by Drew Adams' Raiders in the 3rd.
Good Hope buried the Aggies with 26 points and went into the 4th with a 65 to 39 cushion.
Three Raiders were selected GDW players of the game.
Tucker Malin led the Raiders with 21, 7 FGs, 3 treys and 5 of 8 FTs.
Tyler Cone ripped for 19 and pulled down 11 rebounds. Gavin Pace scored 6 times on FGs, 4 treys and had 17.
The Raiders hit 14 treys, 6 in the first half and 8 in the final 16:00.
Good Hope has won 4 in a row and goes into the title bout with Holly Pond 19 & 6.
Landon Smith and Carson Jones guided the Aggies with 11, Zayden Cruce and Trace Henderson added 6, Jac Dunn scored 9 on three treys.
