County tourney memories witnessed by Gameday Weekly:

Regular season hoops ends this week after the county tourney:

GDW memories from Cullman County BK:

Four championships in a row:
Good Hope Lady Raiders have claimed the Cullman County title for the past four years. The Lady Raiders match the feat done by Cold Springs' Lady Eagles 2007 to 2010.
Good Hope has knocked off West Point in the finals the last two years.
There's hope for Good Hope:
Good Hope Raiders have made a name in the varsity by winning the county tournament five of the last seven years.
The Raiders accomplished this in a 60 to 42 victory in the title game vs. Holly Pond.
Drew Adams' Raiders have played in the county championship every year since the team won it under him for the first time back in 2019.

Good looking future for county hoops:
With two championships in junior varsity playing being decided at the end, the future of local hoops is very promising.
Good Hope edged Cold Springs in the JV girls game 43 to 40 when Zoe Gibbs stole a pass in the closing seconds as Cold Springs was trying to set up a game tying play.
West Point closed out a 48 to 43 victory against Cold Springs by getting the go ahead basket from Sawyer Harris in crunch time.
A double double in the championship:
Abby Richter of Good Hope JV girls. 13 points, 17 rebounds vs. Cold Springs.
Cade Allbright of Holly Pond 11 points, 11 rebounds vs. Good Hope.
Bombs away:
Good Hope loved the Tom Drake Coliseum floor this week. In 3 games of the county tournament, the Raiders converted 32 shots from 3 point range.
The Raiders tore apart Fairview with 14 made in the semifinal and a dozen in the title game against Holly Pond.
Gavin Pace netted 8 treys from the semifinal to the championship. Tucker Malin was right behind hitting a combined 7. Both were sound in combining for 8 vs. Holly Pond, 6 during the first half.
Very impressive in front of GDW:
Laklin Shadix of West Point - 23 points, 14 rebounds, 5 assists, 5 blocks in 63 to 48 semifinal victory vs. Vinemont.
Sawyer Harris of West Point JV - 20 points, 7 rebounds, 8 Fgs, 2 treys during championship against Cold Springs.
Zoe Gibbs of Good Hope JV (G) - 26 points in semifinal win vs. Fairview, 9 Fgs, 4 treys, 4 of 5 FTs, 6 rebounds, 3 assists.
Hagan Ellis of Cold Springs JV (G) - 25 points on 5 FGs, 5 treys. 5 rebounds, 2 assists in 51 to 31 semifinal victory over West Point.
Lindan Hill of Cold Springs JV - 25 points in 52 to 49 semifinal win over Good Hope. Hill 10 Fgs, 5 of 6 Fts, 9 rebounds.
Tucker Malin of Good Hope - 34 points, 24 in 2nd half of 80 to 67 victory over Cold Springs. Malin 11 Fgs, 1 trey, 11 of 13 FTs, 7 rebounds.
Well deserving award winners:

Jay Lamar of West Point - Joe Shults winner.
Ava McSwain of Good Hope - Bill Shelton winner.
Jacob Haynes of Good Hope - Eli Thomas memorial scholarship.
Kenady Graves of Cold Springs - Charlotte Cummings memorial scholarship.
GDW's best from the JV division:
Sawyer Harris of West Point - 20 points, 8 Fgs, 2 treys, 6 rebounds in title game vs. Cold Springs.
Zoe Gibbs of Good Hope (G) - 39 points in 2 games, 26 vs. Fairview, 13 vs. Cold Springs. Made game winning steal in final seconds of the championship game.

Just the facts:
Cullman County tournament has been at Wallace State CC for 33 consecutive years. The first time was 1993. WKUL FM (92.1) has been broadcasting the high school divisions since it went to a neutral site after rotating at each school in the county.
Tri County Central got the contract to officiate the 2025 tournament. The local association gets a good grade by Gameday Weekly in having quality on the floor for a total of 23 tournament games.
Four different crews took to the floor Saturday for championship play in JV girls, JV, girls and the varsity.
Seven teams, 5 girls entered the tournament ranked in the state prep poll.
Cold Springs girls 2nd in 2A, Vinemont girls 6th in 3A, Holly Pond girls 7th in 3A, Good Hope girls 4th in 4A, West Point girls 5th in 5A.
The Good Hope Raiders were 5th in 4A when the tournament started while the West Point Warriors had a No. 9 ranking in 5A.
That's the most teams with state recognition while playing for the top spot in Cullman County for a week.
