GDW Analysis:
Cullman High School is now in the process of finding a new football coach.
This is due to Danny Stiff submitting his resignation and it being accepted by the Cullman City School Board Tuesday morning.
“Cullman High School announces Danny Stiff has stepped down as varsity head football coach. Over the past two years, Coach Stiff has played an essential role in our football program, demonstrating dedication and commitment to our student-athletes.
"We appreciate everything Coach Stiff has done for both the student-athletes and the football program during his tenure. We wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors."
Stiff coached the Bearcats from 2023 through 2024. Cullman was 5 & 5 both years in the regular season and did make the AHSAA playoffs in Class 6A both seasons.
They lost in the opening round to Clay Chalkville in 2023 and Parker in 2024.
Highlights from the 2024 season was the 'Cats 35 to 14 win over Mortimer Jordan in Week 2, a 21 to 20 victory at a rainy Jasper High School September 13, a 35 to 0 shutout of Brewer September 27 and a 42 to 14 win at Decatur October 18 that clinched a playoff berth in 6A, Region 7.
The process of finding a successor to Stiff is being handled by Principal Allison Tuggle and new athletic director Mike Dean.
School officials report a timeline of February or early March in the quest of this process.
