GDW Analysis:
FAIRVIEW: Everyone with the Fairview Lady Aggies were pleased with a sensational first period Monday evening at Joe Shults Gymnasium.
The Lady Aggies scored 35 consecutive points after Brewer got the first hoop of the night on a three pointer.
It was very much a Fairview victory after the first leading 35 to 3. The final would be the Lady Aggies 63 to 30.
Fairview was so superior against the Morgan County visitor, especially PG Darby Nichols.
Nichols would score six straight shots, most of them layups off pressure defense. Fourteen shots were made by Chris Nichols' Lady Aggies in the first 8:00.
Lexi Golden playing her final game at home as a senior with three FGs, Whitney Quick and Peyton Defoor hit two.
From an astounding first period, the Lady Aggies got a shot by Nichols for their only FG in the 2nd.
Brewer won the 2nd period by a 14 to 2 advantage as freshman guard Khloe Grandstaff ripped the cords for 9 in the 2nd.
That allowed Brewer to go from 35 to 3 down, trailing 37 to 17 at the half.
The Lady Aggies were back with four shots made in the 3rd. Brewer had 10 points as well with the score 47 to 27 heading to the final period of play.
In the 4th, Quick showed a good touch scoring 4 FGs, 2 treys to have 11 for the period.
Nichols led her team with 18, Quick would earn 17 , Davi Stidham ended with 9, Golden scored 8, Kailyn Redding added 6, Defoor got 5.
Grandstaff's 11, all in the opening half, led the Lady Patriots.
Sophomore center Hanna Morrison tallied 8.
Fairview is now 15 & 14 with Brewer 2 & 21.
The Lady Aggies have shown improvement in Nichols' 2nd season leading Fairview. They won 7 games and lost 18 the year before.
Fairview will play at Hayden Tuesday to end the regular season.
The Lady Aggies won a coin toss Monday to be seeded No. 3 in the upcoming AHSAA 5A, Area 15 tournament. Fairview and Guntersville finished tied at 1 & 5 with a coin toss needed.
Fairview will play Arab in the semifinals Saturday from Scottsboro.
