VINEMONT: Fairview Lady Aggies had a sound hitting attack early against the Vinemont Lady Eagles Wednesday afternoon from Turney/Gingrich Field.
Through 1 and a third innings of play, Fairview amassed 9 runs on 8 hits, 2 doubles, 2 home runs and 8 runs batted in.
The Lady Aggies would finish with an 11 to 1 victory, ending the game by run rule in the 6th.
Fairview's win gives the Lady Aggies the 4th seed for the Cullman County tournament that will be at the Vinemont Sports Complex March 31 & April.
Vinemont will be the 5th seed in a rematch with the winner to advance to the semifinal round and face top seed Good Hope.
Brian Simmons' Lady Aggies went to work with a 4 run first frame as a double by Ava Pruett scored a run with an RBI single from Adya Payne and a two run base hit by Ada Fales.
The hitting went for better results in the 2nd on a run scoring double by Pruett, a two run homer to center by Payne and a solo blast over the left field fence from Addison Phillips.
By the end of the top of the 2nd, Fairview led Vinemont 9 to 1.
Vinemont made a chance in the circle with Tori Vines coming in relief and giving up no runs on just two hits from the 2nd to the 5th inning.
In the 6th, Fairview executed two bunt sacrifices that led to two Vinemont throwing errors with Pruett and Phillips scoring to make it an 11 to 1 lead.
Vinemont loaded the bases on a fielders choice to Haley Millwood, a walk to Vines and a single down the rightfield line by Brooklyn Yarbrough.
Yarbrough went too far in making her turn by first base and was tagged out to end the game at 3:33 p.m.
The game was played in 1 hour, 40 minutes.
Payne showed good production for Fairview, 2 for 3 with a HR and 3 runs batted in.
Pruett had two doubles, two runs driven in and scored twice.
Phillips singled, homered and scored three times in batting 5th in the lineup.
Fairview tallied 9 runs through its first 14 at bats in the game.
Leadoff batter Emily Benson scored twice, leading off the game by getting on base via an error. She started the 2nd with a double and raced home in a one hit single from Pruett.
Jocelyn Barnett, a freshman, allowed Vinemont 1 run on 4 hits with 2 walks and 3 strikeouts.
She got out of a bases loaded situation in the 4th and in the 6th when it looked like Vinemont was going to score a run and send the game to the 7th.
Fairview welcomes Holly Pond to its field Thursday at 4:30 p.m.
Vinemont has a 3A, Area 12 game at home against Locust Fork Thursday at 4:30 p.m.
