GDW Analysis:
HANCEVILLE: Tucker Malin stepped into the spotlight for the 2nd time in three nights for the Good Hope Raiders.
Malin bombed the Dora Bulldogs Monday in the Hanceville Thanksgiving Tournament with a career high 39 points.
Vinemont yielded 10 points to the senior sharpshooter. Others picked up the pace and the Raiders ran by the Eagles Tuesday 75 to 32.
In the championship bout with the Corner Yellow Jackets, Malin delivered 9 points in the 1st enroute to a team high 27 points.
It would be a 63 to 59 hard fought triumph for the Raiders to win the 42nd edition of the event on the campus of Hanceville High School.
Corner took the Raiders to the wire. Drew Adams' squad managed to overcome 50 percent shooting from the line to stay undefeated after playing their 4th game in a span of 6 days.
The Raiders were up 13 to 12 following the 1st and 30 to 23 at the half by having a 17 to 11 advantage on the scoreboard in the 2nd.
Corner has a shooting weapon like the Raiders. Junior Talan Laird produced 11 in the 3rd to give him 24 going into the final frame.
He added a pair of FGs and would earn 29 on the night.
The Raiders led 52 to 44 to start the 4th and got it up to 54 to 44 on a FG from sophomore Kye McSwain.
Wilson Weathers keyed the Corner comeback as did a three from Samuel Hill. The Yellow Jackets cut the lead to 60 to 59 late prior to a pair of FTs from Malin and one by McSwain in the remaining 3 seconds sewed up the championship for the Raiders.
Jacob Haynes closed out a good tournament with 19 points, Tyler Cone scored 9, Gavin Pace 5.
