GDW Analysis:
GOOD HOPE: Ava McSwain knew how to put on a performance in two levels Thursday for the Good Hope Lady Raiders.
On the hardwood, the senior tossed in 17 points to help the Lady Raiders romp over East Lawrence 62 to 34 in their 4A, Area 13 opener.
Afterwards, McSwain changed her attire and was named the school's homecoming queen.
McSwain was not the only member of Justin Aby's Lady Raiders to display athletic skills and the beauty of a young woman.
Junior Lucie Adams and senior Jolee McHan were on the court with the ceremony taking place at halftime of the Raiders game vs. the Eagles.
As for the contest, Good Hope faced an East Lawrence team that was 2 & 0 in the area and had 7 wins in 8 decisions.
But the Lady Eagles never could stay with the tremendous assault the Lady Raiders had with others showing the visitor, they have much more than just Ava McSwain.
PG Ella Gossett went through a very good first half scoring as she had 13 by the break with her last 3 FGs coming from 3 point range.
Adams showed her shooters touch by scoring a pair in the 2nd with McHan contributing three from inside the paint.
Good Hope led 33 to 13 at the half, allowing East Lawrence 4 points in period two.
A 23 point third period with McSwain finding her stroke in scoring 9 propelled the Lady Raiders to a 56 to 26 advantage and a running clock for the final stanza.
Adams supported the 9 by McSwain in the 3rd with 9 of her own. She would end the homecoming affair scoring four from long distance as Good Hope accounted for 10 treys of the 20 field goals they put into the basket.
Seventeen was produced by McSwain with Gossett and Adams netting 15, Lexi Marshall delivered 7 off the bench, McHan scored 6, Sophie Konrad and Lexi Collins collected a point from the foul line.
Now with 10 consecutive victories, the Lady Raiders get a good challenge Saturday in playing at Decatur Heritage.
This will be a matchup of a strong 4A unit vs. a good 2A team that has an early season with at Bearcat Arena vs. Cullman.
Tip time from Decatur Heritage is 6:00 p.m.
