GDW Analysis:
GOOD HOPE: Playing five games in the last seven days, the Good Hope Raiders have performed well as they remain undefeated through 10 games on the 2024/25 season.
Opening AHSAA 4A, Area 13 play Thursday, the Raiders went to work from the start and would carry out a 77 to 59 victory over the East Lawrence Eagles.
Drew Adams' Raiders enjoyed their third win of the win on the home floor. Good Hope had rolled by Cold Springs 88 to 54 Monday and toppled Oneonta 61 to 53 Tuesday.
The Raiders starters had scored by the time the first ended. But it was a 1-2 attack of SG Gavin Pace and PG Jacob Haynes that led the way.
Pace tossed in a pair of threes and a FG with Haynes scoring once from long range and twice on short range FGs.
That carried the Raiders to a 22 to 9 lead following the initial 8:00.
Good Hope kept consistent with another 22 point period. Haynes would provide 8 in the 2nd, Pace got 5 and Tyler Cone tallied 3 FGs with the Raiders ahead 44 to 22 at intermission.
East Lawrence's offense went into a different mode in the 2nd half. Blaine Garner's Eagles ripped the cords for 23 in the 3rd, getting the same tally as the Raiders.
They finished with 13 in the 4th and had 36 for the last half with the Raiders scoring 23, only 10 in the final frame.
Senior center Brylan White could not be contained for much of the evening. The 6'3" post collected 14 points through the half on 7 FGs with Good Hope trying to find a way to keep him away from the bucket.
He had 5 points in the last half and scored 19 for the game.
The Raiders were a weapon with four starters to account for 69 points. Haynes finished with a game high 23, scoring 15 by halftime and was 5 of 6 from the line.
Cone would deliver 18 on this evening and has scored 58 in three home games for the week.
Pace tallied 15 as he made three long range FGs. Malin ended with 13, scoring 8 in the last half.
The Raiders will relax on Friday, then be involved in the Randy Jones Classic at West Point Saturday.
Good Hope will face Muscle Shoals at approximately 5:15 p.m. from Jim Boyd Gymnasium.
