GDW Analysis:
July has come and its almost gone.
Those associated with Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) football see it as a welcomed site.
Passing camps, OTAs and plenty of time in the weight room has been accumulated by many programs since this month came about on a Monday, July 1.
As those who follow Gameday Weekly's coverage of prep football, three new coaches enter the ranks.
They are Levi Estes at Hanceville, Will McDaniel at Holly Pond and Kevin McCravy at West Point.
It just happens that each of the newcomers will kick off the 2024 schedule from their home stadium.
Hanceville will see the Cold Springs Eagles come to Ray Talley Stadium August 23.
Holly Pond says hello to the Appalachian Eagles from Blount County.
The West Point Warriors will be at home that evening in a new opener, matching up with the Haleyille Lions.
All games will kick off at 7:00 p.m.
Around the GDW coverage area, four schools will new coaches will have the opportunity to start 2024 play as a home squad.
Jake Pittman is now in Brindlee Mountain with the Lions to host DAR on the 23rd. DAR is currently without a head football coach.
Bert Newton is looking to keep the Hartselle Tigers successful. Newton and the Tigers tangle with the Austin Black Bears that evening from JP Cain Stadium.
For the Priceville Bulldogs, the Seth Parker era opens on campus in an August 23 battle vs. Columbia.
Jarious Williams will lead Sumiton Christian for the first time as the Eagles play host to Victory Christian.
According to information, 100 new football coaches are locked in to the AHSAA.
As of July 26, three schools are still vacant.
The AHSAA allows football teams who did not play in a spring jamboree to start workouts on Monday.
Those who played a spring game have to wait for their first time in fall practice on August 5.
Hanceville and West Point will see each other in a jamboree August 16.
Estes, McDaniel and McCravy got to say hello to GDW during the Cullman County schools media day July 22.
Everything is moving forward with the 2024 season being a change as Holly Pond is back up to Class 3A, Hanceville has dropped from 4A to 3A.
