GDW prep football team spotlight from Week 4:
Hanceville Bulldogs: Things were finally where the Hanceville Bulldogs had been wanting them to be.
The 2024 season has been an extreme challenge with a new coach and personnel trying to understand different setups than from the past.
Hanceville had been hit hard with three losses to start the season, allowing 176 points with the opposition getting control of the game by the 2nd half.
But on Friday the 13th, Hanceville was superior.
The Bulldogs excelled in a 24 to 0 shutout of the Carbon Hill Bulldogs in Walker County.
Hanceville has been selected for the Gameday Weekly prep team spotlight.
Levi Estes has his first victory with the Bulldogs. With it being a shutout, taking place on the road and dealing with adverse weather conditions, adds to the accomplishment.
Hanceville finds itself in a 4 way tie with Gordo, Vinemont, Phil Campbell as 1 & 1 in 3A, Region 5. Winfield and Oakman share the lead following regional play on the 4th week of the regular season.
GDW player spotlight of the week:
Marques Leeth and Ashton Hurt of the Hanceville Bulldogs:
Both contributed two touchdowns during Hanceville's 24 to 0 win in 3A, Region 5 play against Carbon Hill.
Leeth scored first for the Bulldogs to put them ahead 6 to 0. Hurst had his 1st TD in the 2nd with the Bulldogs going up 12 to 0 at halftime.
Hurst tallied the first of two Bulldog TDs in the 4th quarter with the last one coming on a scoring run by Leeth.
The running game was a good display for Hanceville against tough conditions and rain and a wet field deep down in Walker County.
