West Point unable to win, no perfect week for local football:

Warriors get romped Saturday by long time foe Lawrence County:

GDW Analysis:
West Point Warriors was the last team to play this weekend and with it, a chance for local football to enjoy an 8 & 0 record for the week.
The game rescheduled for Saturday after heavy rains pounded the West Point field Friday, was played at Mark Britton Field/Oliver Woodard Stadium on the Cullman High campus.
Long time rival Lawrence County posted a 40 to 0 shutout of the Warriors, dropping West Point to a winless mark in 4 games for new coach Kevin McCravy.
The Warriors are 0 & 2 in AHSAA 5A, Region 7 as they have been outscored the last two games in regional play 88 to 13.
Lawrence County put a TD on the scoreboard in the first quarter and scored once in the 2nd to make it 14 to 0 at the half.
A field goal was scored by the Red Devils in the 3rd with the Warriors still in contention, even though it was 17 to 0.
Lawrence County accounted for 3 TDs in the 4th quarter and handed the Warriors their first shutout of 2024.
West Point has experienced inconsistency in being a scoring squad. The Warriors now have accumulated 16 points in the last 12 quarters, getting a FG in Week 2 vs. Good Hope and 2 TDs last week in a regional loss to Fairview.
This is the first time Lawrence County has defeated West Point in back to back years. The last time that happened for the visitors from Moulton was 2017 and 2018. The Red Devils lead the all time series 23 to 20.

 West Point has a bye next week and will use it to get ready to close out the September schedule with a trip to Hayden on the 27th.
