GDW Analysis:
VINEMONT: Being able to get in an extracurricular activity before school was released Tuesday, the Vinemont Eagles finished off sweeping 3A, Area 12 foe Holly Pond Broncos 11 to 1 at Mike Cupp Field.
This came after the Eagles took a pair Monday evening in Holly Pond, 13 to 2 and 12 to 1.
Vinemont is the first local team to reach 10 wins on the 2025 season, starting it three weeks ago.
Hunter Cornelius' Eagles are 10 & 2, 3 & 0 in the area and winners of six consecutive games.
Tuesday, the Eagles led 1 to 0 after an inning as the Broncos scored a run in their half of the 2nd to tie the score at 1 to 1. The run was unearned due to a throwing error.
Rush Sandlin got the go ahead run for the Eagles in the 2nd as they never trailed from this stretch on.
RBIs in the 3rd by Ryan McRae and Owen McKinney had the Eagles ahead 4 to 1.
A three run assault in the 4th was thanks to a two run single from leadoff batter Kayden Henderson and a run scoring base hit by DH Jake Hale. Vinemont now had the lead to 7 to 1 and the momentum was on its side.
Ryne Dalton threw four consecutive scoreless innings for Vinemont after allowing a run in the 2nd.
He gave up one extra base hit in the last 4 frame and struck out three in going five and a third innings.
In the Vinemont 5th, RBI singles were courtesy of Tucker Mauter and Henderson for the lead now at 9 to 1.
The Eagles loaded the bases in the 6th with a single by McRae, a walk to Hayden Robinson and a single to left by McKenney.
Sandlin's ground ball to short was mishandled as two runs scampered home to end the game at 2:44 p.m. by the run rule.
Henderson had 3 hits, 3 runs batted in and was 5 of 5 in stolen base tries.
The Eagles scored at least a run per inning and had 2 in the 3rd, 3 in the 4th, 2 in the 5th and 2 in the 6th to break the area game open.
Mauter and McRae scored twice as did Sandlin with the Eagles never being thrown out in stealing 11 bases vs. the Broncos.
Now the Eagles look to visit Good Hope Thursday in an early season battle in county play with the Raiders.
Game time is set for 6:30 p.m.
