What a Friday night it was that may never happen like this again:

A 7 & 0 record on Friday the 13th, 6 wins by local teams on the road:

GDW Analysis:
Cullman County football teams have been like this from Week 1 to Week 4 vs. non county opponents.
First week was 1 & 3, 2nd week local teams 4 & 0, Week 3 just 1 & 5.
And on Friday the 13th of September, 7 & 0.
Gameday Weekly can not recall such an evening in which the teams played a perfect brand of football to be winners.
Also, the fact of it being six teams going on the road and getting a win in AHSAA regional play.
And add very adverse weather as the remains of a hurricane and tropical storm buried the area Friday with 3.65 inches of rainfall.
The rain was so devastating that the West Point game vs. Lawrence County had to be postponed and to be relocated to Cullman's Britton Field/Woodard Stadium Saturday afternoon.
The AHSAA got its wish. A high percentage of games were able to go on despite the rain, gusty winds and plenty of areas with flooding problems.
Two games involving county schools did not kick off until 9:00 p.m. Holly Pond and Cold Springs was able to get on to the wet surface and celebrate winning its first regional contest of 2024.
Friday scoreboard:
Cullman 21, Jasper 20
Fairview 28, Ardmore 6
Good Hope 27, Haleyville 7
Vinemont 32, Midfield 28
Cold Springs 46, Cleveland 0
Holly Pond 54, Brindlee Mountain 8
Hanceville 24, Carbon Hill 0
Fairview and Good Hope are still undefeated with both teams 3 & 0 and 2 & 0 in their region.
Cullman's upset of previously undefeated Jasper was against a ball club that was averaging 50 points a game, the best in Class 6A. The Bearcats got 2 TDs in the final period and watched Jasper miss a FG on the game's final play from approximately 38 yards out.
Hanceville overcame the fact of an 0 & 3 start and allowing 175 points. The Bulldogs were better than a group of Bulldogs from Carbon Hill, shutting them out in Walker County.
Vinemont and Cold Springs are now 3 & 1. Both Eagles are a few plays from being undefeated.
Holly Pond has 2 wins out of 4 games as they have outscored Hanceville and Brindlee Mountain in these wins 128 to 43.
In a day that GDW saw a lot of rain from West Point, the most we can remember, it caused the regularly scheduled WKUL FM Game of the Week to be postponed for Friday.
Sports continued on 92.1 FM as the Atlanta Braves picked up a victory in the 1st of a 4 game series with the LA Dodgers from Truist Park.
Those who are closely associated with the football programming presented by 92.1 FM can wipe the rain off their faces and the tears in their eyes.

WKUL FM will next week present Carbon Hill at Vinemont for its broadcast, pending on no weather related issues.
